WHO?
Chantal Fouraux a dutch designer and idealist. I live and work in the Hague, Netherlands. In 1996 I graduated in Fine Arts at the Royal Academy of Arts, the Hague. This is when I started exhibiting my mixed media work around Europe. In 2002-2003 I retreated from life in the city and spend a year living and working on the French country side, where I learned from local self sufficient biologically dynamic farmers about a different way of life.In this period my interest in sustainable living and interior design was born. Upon returning to the Netherlands I put my experience into practice.
History
Chantal comes from a creative musical family were she learned how to put your creativity to use. Back in the day she was on a shoestring budget and she started using old clothes to make herself a new wardrobe. As her wardrobe grew so did the requests of friends and family to make them a unique fashion item.

STUDIO ABUSE
In 2003 I founded (ab/Re/O4) use, that later resulted in studio abuse, a design studio with a focus on re-use, reduce. One of the very first fashion companies specialized in up-cycling used denim and other textiles.
My love for fashion started at a very early age helping my mother tracking the patterns and later on sewing and designing my own clothes. Creating is in my DNA it is my passion.

Ab + Joes were drawn by a Funky child on a bright and shiny day. They are cute, bubbly, and fun-loving creatures. Both of them are unique just like you.
